Olin College Appoints Dr. Shayla Sawyer Armand as Provost
Shayla comes to Olin College from RPI, where she was a professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering, and Director of the Mercer XLab. She will join the community on May 4, 2026. Read the press release.

Mateo Otero-Diaz ’28 Selected for SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program
Mateo has been chosen for the SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program, a workforce development initiative through the United States Department of War. Read the story.

Graduates and their families are invited to join President Lee, trustees, faculty and staff for this reception. There will be brief remarks, food and drinks.

Fri., May 15: 2026 Commencement

2:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. / Great Lawn tent

Olin College staff, faculty and students are invited to join alumni, trustees, friends and guests as we celebrate the Class of 2026 and their families. The ceremony's featured speaker is Reshma Saujani, a 2026 TIME Woman of the Year and leading activist, founder, podcast host and author. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Join Lis in this online panel through the Global Network of Internet & Society Centers. Rapid technological change, rising political tensions, ongoing conflicts and escalating environmental pressures are reshaping the most consequential debates worldwide. The panel of experts from across the globe will share strategies, initiatives and policy responses emerging to address these dynamics. Register for the event.

In collaboration with The Foundry in Cambridge, Olin faculty, students and alums are coming together for STEM Slam. There will be performances, food, and hands-on experiences. See more information and register.

Mon., May 4 - Thurs., May 7: Spring 2026 Final Events

Spring 2026 finals activities open to the community will be published to the Olin Events Calendar in Outlook. Faculty may submit open events by filling out this form. Final open events can be submitted at any time to get them posted to the calendar, but please fill out the form at least a week before the event. A list of the finals can also be viewed here.

If you have not added the calendar to your Outlook account, you can do so by following these steps:

Open Outlook and go to the "Calendar tab."
In the top toolbar, click "Add Calendar."
Select "From Address Book."
In the search field, type "Olin Events Calendar."
Click "OK" and allow the calendar to sync.

Tues., May 5: DJS Social Impact Showcase
4 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. / Weissman Foundry, Babson College (Room 103)

The Design Justice Studio (DJS) is hosting its Social Impact Showcase featuring students from Babson, Olin, and Wellesley. The teams will give 5-minute summary presentations, followed by an interactive poster session for attendees to engage directly with students.
