STORY: Q&A with CORe President Kenneth Xiong '27

Since seeing campaign posters decorate the walls of his middle school, Kenneth developed a passion for student government. In November 2024, he assumed his role as the President of The Council of Olin Representatives (CORe) with the goal of building an inclusive and welcoming community for Oliners. Read the Q&A.

Mon. & Tues., Dec. 9-10: Free Osher Center for Integrative Health Forum

The Osher Center for Integrative Health at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital is holding a conference entitled "High-Tech Medicine, Soft Touch Healing: Advancing Innovation in Integrative Health." The meeting is free to anyone interested in engineering and tech in medicine and healthcare, and students are especially welcome. Sessions are both in-person and hybrid. On Dec. 10, President Barabino will participate in a panel entitled "Educational and Ethical Innovations and Technology Implications." Read more about the event.

Wed., Dec. 11: The Winter Gathering

9:30am - 5pm / Various Locations

The Winter Gathering is a community-building event where students, staff, and faculty will have opportunities to come together throughout the day to participate in various activities, including a community service activity, community lunch, cookie swap, and more. Thurs., Dec. 12: ADE Social Impact Showcase

4pm - 5:45pm / Room 103, Weissman Foundry, Babson College 

Affordable Design and Entrepreneurship (ADE) students from Babson, Olin, and Wellesley will present their projects that address pervasive social challenges like environmental justice, Indigenous sovereignty, public health, food security, climate adaptation, and structural inequality. Teams will give 5-minute summary presentations followed by an interactive poster session. Click here to RSVP. 

Wed., Jan. 8: January 2025 Davis Learning Modules

8:30am - 4pm 

The January 2025 Davis Learning Modules will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and will offer participants community building, skill development, and collaboration. Topics for the modules include Artificial Intelligence (AI), sustainability across the curriculum, and integration with the Olin Shop. All college employees are encouraged to attend, and those interested in participating should register by Friday, December 13. Click here to register.

Applications open: The Massachusetts Climatetech Studio Climatetech Entrepreneur

The Massachusetts Climatetech Studio, a partnership between the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) and FedTech, helps entrepreneurs launch new climate technology ventures. The Climatetech Studio matches teams of entrepreneurs with cutting-edge technologies from federal and university labs during an intensive 16-week program cohort, and participants work closely with expert coaches and advisors to assess the potential of their technologies and form strategies for successful commercialization. Each participant receives a $15,000 stipend and has the chance to win further prize money and grant funding. There is no cost to participate, no equity taken, and the program is designed to be flexible for those working (or studying) full-time. Applications are being accepted through February 28, 2025, and the program runs from April 9 to July 30, 2025. Reach out to Jess Charlap (jcharlap@olin.edu) with any questions.
